Ryan Vogelsong Pitches a Gem Against Oakland

Some people wondered at the start of the season if Ryan Vogelsong could possibly perform as well this year as he did in 2011 — I  was one of those people.  Well, Vogelsong’s outstanding performance today, in a 4-0 Giants win over the Oakland A’s certainly went a long way to silence my doubts.  Vogelsong not only pitched seven innings of one-hit ball, he also got on base after being struck with a pitch and scored the go-ahead run.  I was rooting for Vogelsong last year because his personal history made him seem like an underdog.  I am rooting for him this year because of his outstanding pitching.  If Bruce Bochy were starting the season today, I imagine he would have Vogelsong number three in the pitching rotation rather than number five.
